Children are entitled to the best. When the designer Bolette Blædel was on maternity leave with her first son, she soon discovered the scarcity of children's furniture that encourages play, creativity and physical exercise, while at the same time satisfying her preference for good, Danish design.
Today, the result is a group of animals, each with its own shape and numerous functions, e.g. an elephant, which one moment can be used for riding and the next be turned into a boat, a table or a rocking footstool. bObles' furniture is not only striking design objects in bright colours and geometric shapes - it also gives children a unique opportunity to develop their motor function and understanding of their own body, while playing and using their imagination.

The Tumbling Animals are based on simple geometric forms - cut in the shape of animals. The Tumbling Animals are great as children's furniture, but are designed for creative play. Children are able to tumble, roll, balance, seesaw, rock, jump and gain balance and coordination skills, which can serve as the foundation for further development. The possibilities are endless with these fun animals. When used as a stepping stool, they don't move when they get wet which is a nice feature. The Tumbling Animals Fish has either 3 or 6 layers of firm foam. It has a soft surface, very easy to clean under the shower. The Tumbling Animals are tested especially for children and is free of any toxin or phthalates.

They appeal to something human inside us as they look like animals - but they can easily represent whatever the child wishes during play. The material is firm but still soft and it is also user friendly as it is easy to clean - wipe over using a wet cloth.
Developmental learning works the best when you play it. How you can avoid it with the Tumbling Animals?
The Chicken can be placed on its wide surface or be turned upside down. When the chicken is placed on its back there is a rocking function. For the very small child who has just learned to get around the balance will be challenged by laying on the chicken and feel the rocking – and just by lying next to the chicken and touch it will provide a good and fun stimuli for the child. When the child can sit it will do it on the chicken – and later stand and walk on it. When used as a step stone the advantage is the fact that it does not slide. Another benefit is that the material is soft, which makes it nice to use even with bare feet. When the rocking function is used it is demanding for the balance – but just to stand on it will also place a demand on the musculature/stability of the foot. Subsequently the chicken has a very usable see saw function, since it lies very stable and secure, easy to control and has a good angle in relation to the stretch/movement of the ankle joint.
